Whenever you choose someone to work with, sometimes the biggest reason for your choice is why they do what they do.
I was a bit of a strange kid. I loved playing and the outdoors, but I loved books more. I was a voracious reader then and I still am today. I even raised over $100 for MS (multiple sclerosis) doing a read-a-thon while in elementary school. I also had a massive imagination that I loved. Stories and characters and ideas came relentlessly. Along with this imagination though, I found myself overly emotional often, more than I liked. It was embarrassing and occasionally a little scary. To this day I remember how overwhelmed I felt when I first cried while reading a novel. It was a children’s book about the Titanic and the idea of all those people dying struck me so hard. It wasn’t until I was a teenager and my father helped me to understand that I needed to control those emotions that I truly clued in. I began to write. As I wrote I learned that I could tap into that deeply emotional part of myself to connect with the characters I wrote and bring them alive. I wrote stories and ideas all time and started writing my first novel when I was fifteen years old. Most of my writing and reading allowed me to escape the crap that is high school life. This escapism into fantastical worlds was something I loved and now want to give that gift to others. After high school life happened and my time writing lessened. In my twenties however, more new ideas came to me that just couldn’t be ignored and I found my passion again. After four years working on one novel I began learning the business of writing and how to get my book published. I’ve learned and continue to learn the craft of writing and the steps to take after you reach ‘The End’ on your manuscript. All I really want to do is keep writing and help others do so. I can’t wait to help others harness their imagination or figure out what their next step is.
